Power.

Power is sexy. It must be. You only have to look at Matt Hancock and the fact that there are two women willing to bump uglies with him to understand that people - men and women - are drawn to power.

The problem is that we’ve misconstrued power with position. We’ve attached power to job roles, bank balances and followers and we’ve lost sight of what true power is. Because, power isn’t something you earn through education or wealth. It’s not something that is bestowed upon you through elections or success - although many have manipulated it that way.

Instead, power is something you hold inside. It’s confidence, it’s not following the crowd, it’s critical thought, it’s kindness, compassion. It’s calling out people you love when you see them falter. It’s delivering criticism with love. It’s being true to yourself even when you feel like you’re the only one.

We all have immeasurable amounts of power but we’ve been brainwashed into thinking we don’t. We’ve watched imbeciles claim power and call it their own, we’ve let individuals in our lives take the piss, hurt us, treat us badly, all because we’ve forgotten our own power.

This is the moment you remember. This is the moment you really, really, think about what you want, believe and feel. This is when you stop and assess and look at all the parts of your life and decide what stays and what goes. This is when you decide which boundaries are missing and who adds value to your life and who doesn’t.

When you start to think about things like that, it’s exciting. You can change everything or nothing but it’s up to you.
